A video of a man attempting to pay a $137 traffic violation ticket with 137 origami pigs fashioned with dollar bills in the United States has gone viral.
The city clerk at the municipal court refused to accept his creative method, and he was forced to unfold each of the dollar bills he had spent hours folding.
The unidentified man posted a recording of the exchange on YouTube, and in the summary of the video said: "So I had to pay a ticket .. so could I just go in and pay? Hell no. I spent something like 6 hours making 137 origami pigs, put them in dunkin donuts boxes and paid in style."
The video, which has received more than 900,000 views, shows the man approaching the clerk's office window and telling him he intends to pay his fine in cash.
He then opens two Dunkin Donut boxes and slides them through a hole in the window.
The municipal court officer is surprised to see the origami dollars and says he will not accept his form of payment.
The man replies: "Why not? It's legal tender. It's legitimate currency."
The clerk repeatedly asks the man to unfold the dollar bills before he will accept them.
To which the customer replies: "But look at the pretty little piggies."
A policeman arrives at the scene and has a laugh, saying "that's pretty cool, that took a lot of time. Little piggies in a doughnut box, I got I got it".
But the policeman insists that the man must unfold the money.
After the customer unfolds his origami the clerk lightens up and says that he gives him "props" for his creative work.
"You've made me laugh for the day," he says.
