A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Mexico, the US Geological Survey said.
   
The strong quake, capable of severe damage, was centered 275 km southwest of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, at a depth of five km, USGS said.
   
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
