There are reports of more political upheaval in Fiji on Tuesday night.
FijiLive reports that President Ratu Josefa Iloilo is to step down.
The 88-year-old's retirement was announced by Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Commodore Bainimarama says Iloilo will take leave from Thursday.
His duties will be assumed by the recently-appointed Vice-President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
