Fiji is currently being hammered by Category Two Cyclone Mick.
Winds are averaging 110 kilometres an hour, with gusts up to 150 kilometres an hour.
It is expected to track through the middle of the island, hitting Suva at around 3am Tuesday.
Squally thunderstorms are forecast with flooding, as well as sea flooding in low lying coastal areas.
UNICEF Pacific representative Dr Isiye Ndombi is in Suva, and says emergency services are on standby and emergency centres have been activated.
He says at the moment their priority is making sure people in the high risk areas are aware of the threat and have the necessary supplies.
The Fijian government is advising people to stay indoors and keep away from their windows.
Ndombi says they are already feeling Mick's might.
Ndombi says popular tourists islands off to the west were lashed earlier Monday morning.
