Two people were killed and 47 others were injured when a coach
overturned on an icy road in Cornwall, police said on
Wednesday.
One of the passengers died at the scene and a second at the Royal
Cornwall Hospital in Truro after the accident involving a coach
carrying a group of local people returning from a day trip to the
Cornish town of Mousehole.
Helicopters evacuated casualties to hospital from the scene of the
accident in the village of Townshend. Six of the injured people
were detained for treatment.
Devon and Cornwall police, who have launched an investigation, said
in a statement that roads in the area were extremely icy at the
time of the crash.
