A man convicted over the 2004 bombing of Australia's embassy in Jakarta was one of those killed by police in an anti-terrorism raid last week.

Enceng Kurnia was one of two men killed in a 30-minute gunfight with police in Aceh.

Kurnia was released from prison last year after serving five years for his role in the embassy bombing, which killed 12 Indonesians.

He was convicted for supplying firearms to Noordin Mohammed Top, the terrorist leader who masterminded the embassy attack and was himself killed in a police raid last year.

Kurnia's death came just three days after police killed 2002 Bali bombing mastermind Dulmatin during a raid in an internet cafe on Jakarta's outskirts.

Police believe Dulmatin and his Bali bombing accomplice Umar Patek returned to Indonesia from the Philippines late last year to establish a new terrorist group based in Aceh.
