Paradise Valley Springs

Paradise Valley Springs is 'Rotorua's must-see wildlife park'. The park is set amongst beautifully maintained New Zealand native bush.  Visitors can interact with many animals that are found wild around New Zealand, like deer, pigs, thar (mountain goats) and wallabies.

Crystal clear spring-fed pools show off hundreds of rainbow and brown trout of all sizes.  A cave with an underwater viewing window shows off some of the larger ones and the Ngongotaha Stream that flows through the park is full of wild Trout.  Get up close and friendly with a range of farm animals in the lively streamside farmwalk.  Alpacas, goats, miniature horses and sheep can all be handfed.  Trout or animal food is available for purchase upon entrance.  Many wild native birds also call Paradise home.  View native birds like the cheeky South Island parrot the Kea in their walk-through enclosure.  Walkways go across the water in the waterbird wetland, which showcases a mixture of native and introduced waterfowl.  Giant native long-finned Eels up to 20 kilograms in weight can also be viewed.

There is also an elevated walkway is hidden six metres high amongst huge native trees, with great signage to help identify all of our common trees and shrubs.  Visitors can drink straight from the freshwater spring, or purchase some bottled 'Paradise Pure' to take away with them.

In a separate area of the park there is a pride of African Lions that can be seen all day in an enclosure that allows visitors to get very close to them, with an exciting Lion Feeding every day at 2.30pm.  At times, there are gorgeous Lion Cubs up to 12 months of age available for patting.  An awesome experience, and all at no extra charge!

Open every day of the year including all public holidays from 8am to dark, with last entrance at 5pm.
