Orana Wildlife Park

Set in 80 hectares of tranquil grounds, Orana Wildlife Park is New Zealand's only open range zoo.

The Park has been designed with an emphasis on natural settings for the animals.  Streams, moats and banks are used as barriers to allow visitors the opportunity to see the animals up close with few fences, wire or cages visible. Over 400 animals representing more than 70 species are on display.

Unique and exciting animal encounters are a Park specialty and enable visitors to get up close to endangered exotic animals.

Visitors can hand feed majestic giraffe, stroll through an alpine themed aviary for a close encounter with Kea - the world's only alpine parrot, see Tigers search for food, meet massive rhino in a "face to face" encounter, see the awesome turn of speed of the world's fastest land mammal - the cheetah, pat a friendly llama and travel through the African lion reserve for extremely close views of the "King of Beasts"!

There is something for everyone to enjoy with 15 animal feeds daily, one approximately every 30 minutes whilst the Park is open.  Guided tours operate daily - visitors can board a safari shuttle for a Park tour and enjoy the drivers' commentary. Alternatively, join a wildlife guide on a walkabout tour of the grounds. Orana Wildlife Park provides the ultimate wildlife experience!

The Park is dedicated to the conservation of wildlife diversity on this planet. Our aim, along with being dedicated to the conservation of endangered species and the welfare of our animals, is to provide education, recreation and enjoyment to the public.
