friendly domestic animals such as Kune Kune Pigs, Rabbits, Goats,
Sheep and more. A small aquarium contains a range of interesting
creatures, including frogs. A wide selection of exotic birds
are displayed in a wonderful walk-through aviary.
Natureland is a place where families can get close to
animals. The area is enclosed and safe for little ones and has
a pre-school playground, picnic tables and toilets. Visitors can
purchase food to feed to the animals!
Natureland Zoo staff members fulfil an important role in
rehabilitating injured native wildlife. Staff have worked with a
range of species from Wood Pigeon to seabirds that have been handed
in. The animals are rehabilitated and then released to the
wild.
Natureland Zoo is operated by Orana Wildlife Trust, a registered
charitable trust that owns and operates Orana Wildlife Park and
Southern Encounter Aquarium & Kiwi House (Christchurch, New
Zealand).
