Why We Buy

About the show
Why We Buy is a fascinating six-part local series that explores why we shop and the strategies, science and psychology used to persuade us to buy.
Presented by Simon Morton, the series is a mix of experiments, demonstrations and inside knowledge from experts all aimed at revealing the psyche of the seller and the mind of the consumer.
We love to shop. New Zealanders spend $50 billion every year in retail stores. Shopping is a leisure activity - just visit any shopping mall in the weekend for the evidence of that.
But we do we love to shop? Where does our rampant consumer urge come from? And how might marketers and advertisers be persuading us to spend in ways we're not always aware of?
This series explores those questions - from the tactics of the supermarkets (yes those trolleys are getting bigger) to the secrets of Suzanne Paul's success.
