    A low west of New Zealand directs a northerly flow over the area. The low moves south and gradually weakens during today and Saturday west of the South Island.A broad trough is expected to move onto the country on Sunday,followed by southwesterlies.

    Friday: Northerly 20 knots easing to 15 knots this evening. Moderate sea easing this evening. Poor visibility in occasional showers, possibly heavy and thundery.


    Outlook until midnight Monday: Saturday: Becoming northwest 10 knots but 15 knots in the north in the afternoon. Morning rain then showers. Sunday: Northwest rising to 15 knots but 20 knots in the north. A few showers. Monday: Changing southwest 15 knots everywhere. A few showers.


    Swell forecast to midnight Monday: Northeast 4 metres easing to 2 metres today, to 1.5 metres Saturday and to 1 metre or less Monday.
