A broad and complex trough lies over the country during the period, driving a northwest flow over the area. A low approaches from the Tasman Sea on Monday, becoming slow moving west of the country. On Thursday, the low weakens as it moves eastwards across northern New Zealand, bringing a southerly change.

Monday: Northwest 10 knots easing to variable 5 knots this morning. Slight sea becoming smooth this morning. Fine spells, but fair visibility in isolated showers.
Outlook until midnight Thursday: Tuesday: Northerly 10 knots developing in the morning. A few showers. Wednesday: Northwest rising to 15 knots late. Periods of rain. Thursday: Northwest 20 knots, changing southwest 10 knots late. Rain easing to showers.
