A deep low moves slowly across central New Zealand today. A westerly flow over the area becomes very strong today. The flow turns southwest on Friday and eases on Saturday. Southwesterlies continue over New Zealand Sunday and Monday.

Friday: Changing southwest 40 knots gusting 55 knots everywhere early morning, easing to 25 knots gusting 35 knots late evening. Very rough sea becoming rough late evening. Poor visibility in showers, clearing in the morning, then becoming fine.
Outlook until midnight Monday: Saturday: Southwest 25 knots. Few showers. Sunday: Southwest 25 knots. Few showers. Monday: Westerly 20 knots. Fine.
Swell forecast to midnight Monday: Northerly 1 metre dying out Friday.
