Snow flurries predicted

Some snow is expected to fall in both the North and South Islands overnight.

A few flurries are predicted for Rimutaka Hill Road tonight, but no significant build-up is expected.

MetService says snow showers are forecast to settle on the Lewis Pass road from late tomorrow morning and between 3 to 6cm of snow is due to accumulate on the road tomorrow afternoon.

In Canterbury, snow showers are expected to settle on the Desert Road from tomorrow afternoon. Between 1 and 2cm of snow is expected.

Snow showers are likely to settle on Porters Pass tonight, and continue early into the morning. Up to 12cm of snow is predicted to fall on the road by Friday night.

No road snowfall warnings are in place for Arthurs Pass, Lindis Pass and Milford Road.
