*GALE WARNING IN FORCE* Northerly 35 knots north of Kaikoura, but southwest 25 knots in the south. Becoming southwest 30 knots everywhere this evening, easing to 20 knots Tuesday afternoon. Very rough sea in the north, easing. Southerly swell rising to 2 metres. Northeast swell 2 metres, easing. Poor visibility in rain, with heavy falls possible, easing to showers Tuesday morning.
Outlook following 3 days: Becoming early Wednesday northwest 25 knots. Changing late Wednesday southwest 45 knots with high sea then easing Thursday to 15 knots. Becoming Friday variable 10 knots. Southwest swell becoming heavy for a time Thursday.
