Meihana Te Huia
Meihana Te Huia joined the Waka Huia team in 2006 after dedicating 15 years to Maori education. He taught in various kohanga reo, kura kaupapa and wharekura in Auckland, Hamilton and Gisborne.
Meihana's qualifications include a Diploma in Journalism from Waiariki Polytechnic, a degree in Maori from Waikato University and a Diploma in Teaching from Christchurch College of Education.
In 2001 Meihana, became a part of 'Te Ara Reo Maori Ako Whakatere' a Maori language programme using accelerated learning techniques under Te Wananga o Aotearoa.
"Working for the Waka Huia team travelling to the many marae throughout Aotearoa, interviewing kaumatua, archiving tribal knowledge and creating Maori documentaries is a privilege that I am proud to uphold".
