Police investigating the murder of Zimbabwean girl Charlene Makaza have seized more items from her Christchurch home.

A team have been going over the property that the 10-year-old lived at with her aunt and uncle.

They have searched vehicles and taken away items including a washing machine from the Bryndwr house.

Makaza is believed to have died from suffocation.

Her uncle, George Gwaze, was in court for a second appearance on Wednesday morning accused of her murder and violation.

Gwaze's lawyer says he will categorically deny the charges.
