A jury of seven women and five men has been selected in the trial of an Auckland man accused of murdering one daughter and attempting to kill a second.
The 29-year-old is accused of driving his car off Mount Wellington in August 2005 in an attempt to kill himself and his daughters.
The vehicle rolled about 100 metres down the hill. His nine-year-old daughter died at the scene and he and his four-year-old daughter were injured.
Both girls suffered from a rare medical condition which would leave them blind and deaf as adults.
The trial at the Auckland High Court is expected to last three weeks.
