The body of a diver who has been missing near Omaha Beach in Rodney has been found.
Searchers gathered at first light to look for the 34-year-old. He went into the water on Monday in atrocious conditions, about 50 metres off Ti Point.
His body was found washed up on the beach on Tuesday morning.
A ban on all fishing has been placed on the Ti Point where the diver's body was found.

The rahui was imposed by local tangata whenua and the Ministry of Fisheries is asking for it to be respected. The department says it will notify the public when the rahui is lifted.
It applies to fish and shellfish in the area from Ti Point to Takatu Point.
