Auckland may soon be home to the largest 35 millimetre cinema screen in the world.
Hoyts at Sylvia Park will unveil its colossal screen - more than 30 metres wide and 13 metres tall - at the end of next month.
The gigantic screen took 20 people to install and requires a projector run by an 8,000W bulb.
An application has been lodged with Guinness World Records to see whether or not they have beaten the record.
Prior to the screen installed at Sylvia Park the Riccarton Cinema complex in Christchurch had the country's largest screen at 23.5 metres wide.
