The TVNZ Archive is New Zealand's largest audiovisual production
library. It licenses images, sounds and music to customers
throughout the world. The collection is legally recognised as
having heritage value and is accessible to the public.
The TVNZ Archive protects and preserves images and sounds of New
Zealand and the Pacific and the views and cultures of its
people.
It is a collection of television programmes made by TVNZ since the
early 1960s. In addition it houses the New Zealand National Film
Unit collection of newsreels and documentaries produced from 1938
to the late 1970s. The Archive houses the largest collection in the
world of moving images recording the culture and heritage of
Maori.
Television Music is TVNZ's music and sound production library and
forms part of the Archive collection. It provides both commercial
and production music to its customers and contains many rare items
in its library of over 500,000 music recordings.
