Air New Zealand is holding the axe over services through South Pacific islands to the US, saying it needs bigger subsidies to keep them going.

If the service to Samoa is dropped, tuna exported to the US would have to be shipped through Auckland, costing the country millions.
Air New Zealand says the flights' performances have been declining and it's seeking the advice of governments on whether the services should continue.
