There are fears Daylight Saving could be a killer.

After the clocks went forward at the weekend, New Zealanders are being warned that there is an increased chance of skin cancer.

According to NIWA in the past week alone, there's been an increase in the level of ultraviolet radiation.

SunSmart Manager Wayde Beckman says there's still too much of an "it'll happen to someone else" attitude.

Beckman says their biggest problem is getting teenagers to realise the threat of skin cancer is real.

He says everyone knows what the 'slip, slop, slap and wrap' message means but it's another thing to get people to adopt the behaviour.
