Little-known Kevin Streelman benefited from an extraordinary back-nine collapse by fellow American Steve Stricker to snatch the lead after the Barclays Classic third round on Sunday.

PGA Tour rookie Streelman fired a three-under 68 at Ridgewood Country Club for an eight-under 205 total to go to the top of a crowded leaderboard in the opening event of the FedExCup playoff series.

Vijay Singh of Fiji (66), Canadian Mike Weir (67), Briton Paul Casey (69) and Spain's Sergio Garcia (69) were locked together in joint second spot on 206.

Tied for sixth on 208 were 2007 U.S. Open champion Angel Cabrera of Argentina, Australians Robert Allenby and Jason Day and Americans Kenny Perry and Kevin Sutherland.

Stricker, who won this event last year when it was held at Westchester Country Club, led by four strokes with eight to play.

The 41-year-old, however, dropped seven shots in as many holes from the 11th to slump to a back-nine 43.

Stricker's worst moment came when he ran up an ugly seven after losing his ball at the par-four 12th as he ballooned to a six-over 77 for 209.
