Crouch moves, Sidwell is poised for Villa, Lampard is furious at Scolari and Valencia must sell Villa or Silva as the football transfer rumour mill rolls on.

Crouch heads to Portsmouth

Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has agreed personal terms with Portsmouth and will complete his move upon passing a medical within the next 48 hours. It is believed the 27-year-old England international striker will cost Portsmouth about 11m pounds. (BBC Sport)

Sidwell posed for Villa move
Aston Villa have agreed to sign Steve Sidwell from Chelsea, subject to him passing a medical. Sidwell, who joined Chelsea last year on a free transfer from Reading, is said to be costing Villa 5million pounds with the move reported to make way for Gareth Barry's transfer to Anfield for 17m plus Liverpool defender Steve Finnan. Barca to announce Hleb transfer
Spanish giants Barcelona are set to announce the signing of Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb in the next few days, according to reports. The 27-year-old's future at Arsenal has been in doubt since the end of last season. ( Sky Sports) 

Lampard furious at Scolari
Frank Lampard
is said to be furious at new boss Luis Filipe Scolari after he announced to the media at his unveiling that the midfielder would be staying at the club. (Various)

And contrary to Wednesday's reports that Lampard would remain at the London club, reports on Thursday suggest he could be on his way out as Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich is refusing to pass the five-year-deal Lampard's reportedly demanding. (BBC Sport)

But Chelsea CEO Peter Kenyon expects Lampard to serve the remainder of his year-long contract with the club if they can not persuade him to stay. ( Independent)

Huntelaar rules out new contract

Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, a target of Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United, has ruled out signing a new contract with the Amsterdam club as they want to include a 20m pound release clause in the deal. (Daily Mirror)

But Ajax insists they have heard nothing from Arsenal about a possible bid for the striker. ( Daily Express)

Valencia have to sell Villa, or Silva
Spain-based journalist Graham Hunter has told Sky Sports News that the financial reality that faces debt ridden Valencia, WILL lead the club to sell one of Liverpool FC targets David Villa or David Silva.  (Goal.com)

Another signing for Rafa
Reports in Brazil say Liverpool is about to complete the 3m pound signing of Brazilin goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri from Palmeiras. It has been reported the player completed a medical on Tuesday and a work permit has been acquired. (Press Association)

Brazilian twins complete United move
Brazilian twins Fábio and Rafael da Silva have completed their move to Manchester United. Fábio, a left-back, and right-back Rafael agreed to join United in February 2007, but under FIFA rules they had to wait until they turned 18-years-old to sign professional contracts. (Daily Mail)

Bolton duo sign new contracts
Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and full back Ricardo Gardner have signed new three and four-year deals tying the duo to the club (Daily Mirror)

Moyes tracks Milito
Everton boss David Moyes is said to be tracking Real Zaragoza's Diego Milito as he looks for a replacement should striker Andy Johnson leave the Merseyside club. (Various)

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is confident of securing the transfer of Johnson for a club record fee of 11m because the player is unwilling to uproot his family from their North West home. (Daily Telegraph)

Holloway in running for Hearts
Former QPR, Leicester and Plymouth manager Ian Holloway is said to be in the running to take over the vacant coaching post at Scottish Premier League side Hearts. (Scottish Daily Express)

Speaking to new Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal on Sunday, Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is said to have boasted that Cristiano Ronaldo has already signed for the Spanish club. (Daily Mirror)

It has been reported that new Chelsea boss, Luiz Felipe Scolari has said he would have become England coach two years ago had the FA waited until Portugal had been eliminated from the 2006 World Cup. (Daily Mirror)

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson has launched an attack on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) saying the media corporation is 'arrogant beyond belief' and reiterated his stance that he will never talk to the corporation again. (Independent)
 
Wayne Rooney's agent Paul Stretford has been fined 300,000 pounds and banned from working as a football agent for 18 months by a disciplinary commission. The ban is relating to how he gained the right to represent Manchester United's Rooney in 2002. (Various)

Man City deputy chairman John Wardle has walked out on the club he loved after 11-years of service. His departure severs another link to the pre- Thaksin Shinawatra era following chief executive Alistair Mackintosh's move to Fulham. Meanwhile, City owner Thaksin faces a Thai court on corruption charges that could see him jailed for up to 13 years. (Daily Mail)

Blackburn Rovers could be the latest Premier League club to come under American ownership after a consortium from the United States registered its interest in buying the club. (The Times)
