The New Zealand Olympic men's football team has received a boost less than three months out from Beijing.
Celtic striker Chris Killen has secured a release to play for the Oly-Whites at this year's Olympic Games.
Olympic coach Stu Jacobs said it is very encouraging news. Jacobs said Killen will be a huge asset and from his point of view he'll enjoy getting some regular football.
He also said that now Killen has indicated he is free to play the focus will turn to securing fellow UK based players Simon Elliott and Ryan Nelsen.
Jacobs said Elliott and Nelsen are still working through details with their respective clubs but it's a tricky time as it is the off-season. He confirmed he spoke to Nelsen's club Blackburn Rovers last week to give them an idea of what they want from him when he's in camp.
