Waitakere United will have the support of New Zealand Football in their quest to better prepare for this year's FIFA Club World Cup.
Waitakere chairman Rex Dawkins has already indicated the desire to play an A-League club in preparation for the tournament.
New Zealand Football competitions manager Glyn Taylor is receptive to the idea and will work with the club to find them space in the New Zealand Football Championship season.
Taylor said he is hopeful the other NZFC clubs will get behind any proposal they put together.
He said it is important to ensure Oceania has a position in the tournament so the financial benefits to New Zealand and the club continues.
Glyn Taylor said he plans to meet with Oceania bosses next week to discuss such issues as Waitakere's build-up.
