Police warn over false complaints

A warning to people making false complaints to police.

Court action is being taken by Napier police against two women and a 15-year-old for falsely claiming they were raped.

Police Spokeswoman Kris McGehan says detectives are frustrated because their cases were a waste of police time that could have been better spent on investigating genuine crimes.

McGehan says the investigations took up 200 hours of police time and stretched resources.
