Thu Feb 15: Kiwi in Poland; UNICEF report; Tony Christie

Bruce Robinson Bailed
Imagine being thrown in a dirty cell with a dozen other people, who don't even speak the same language as you. That's what happened to Bruce Robinson. Bruce is the Kiwi who's been locked up in Poland for a year, after an exhibition hall collapsed killing 65 people. He worked for the company that owned the hall. Held on 'temporary arrest', his future looked grim. In Poland 'temporary arrest' can last for as long as five to seven years, before a trial is held. This morning, against all expectations, the authorities changed their minds and a Polish Court said he should be released on bail. But he's not out yet. Bruce's Polish lawyer, Greg Slyszyk spoke to Mark Sainsbury live from Warsaw.

UNICEF Report
New Zealand has long been touted as a great place to bring up kids. But according to a research report from UNICEF entitled "An Overview of Child Wellbeing in Rich Countries" , we're not doing so well. When it comes to teen pregnancy and other risks and behaviours we rank 24th out of 25 OECD countries. When it comes to our kids' health and safety - and that includes infant mortality - we rank 21st out of 25. But how accurate is the report? Does it compare apples with apples? We talk to Dennis McKinlay from UNICEF , Senior Cabinet Minister Steve Maharey and Ian Grant from Parents Inc. about some of the conclusions drawn by the report. First though Sofia Wenborn gets reactions from a few parents.

Tony Christie
You'll probably know Tony Christie's songs. I Did What I Did for Maria spent four weeks at number one here back in the 70s. And the British balladeer's Is This the Way to Amarillo? has had a number of reincarnations over the years. Amarillo was originally released back in 1971. Then in 2005 it was re-released to raise money for charity and shot to number one in the UK charts - it hung around there for seven weeks. So what's the song, and the man got, that still sees him performing in front of adoring audiences at the age of 63?
