Just You and the Hose
The Fire Service is now running television and newspaper
ads imploring people to call 111 when they see a fire. In parts of
the country people are doing just that - with terrifying results.
They've dialled 111 but their local fire-fighters haven't scrambled
and never shown up. Phil Kitchin takes a look at the disturbing
cracks that are appearing in parts of the volunteer fire service.
Then we speak to CEO of the New Zealand Fire Service, Mike
Hall.
Top of His Game
If we think of our top ranking golfers, names such as Bob Charles
and Michael Campbell spring to mind. But there's another golfer who
holds some amazing scores of his own. Keith Plowman is the world
record holder in what's known as the 'Wait For Age'. That means
he's played more rounds of golf under his age than anyone else, and
at 88 years old that's quite an achievement. But Keith is now set
on breaking another world record that nobody has ever come close to
before. Rawdon Christie joins him on the golf course.
Bound for New York
It's New Zealand's richest and most prestigious art awards. But for
the winner it won't mean a life of lavish luxury, instead with a
value of $35,000, the James Wallace Art Award provides six months
at a prestigious New York art school. We get a sneak peak at the
finalist's work, then talk to the winner live.
