Kiwi kids have their say at the TV2 Kids Own
Awards
New Zealand kids will have a chance to recognise their favourite
celebrities, cartoons, books, characters and everything in between
when the TV2 Kids Own Awards hits New Zealand televisions this
December.
Voting took place on the TVNZ website and 130,000 votes were
tallied to decide on the winners of 11 categories.
Some of them include coolest sports star, best loved TV2 character,
most favourite musician, most awesome book and of course the big
one, most favourite TV2 programme.
The prize for coming first in a given category is the highest
accolade a Kiwi kid can offer: a whole lot of gunge!
Guiding us through the crazy mix of celebrities, awards, gunge and
skateboarding is host Tamati Coffey. Tamati is a well-recognised
big brother to children all over New Zealand after fronting the
roving reporter element of the programme What Now.
Helping to try and control the madness is co-host Matt Gibb from
the popular after-school show Studio 2. Matt is another New Zealand
children's TV icon and will bring his own brand of humour to the
awards.
Tamati and Matt have got a big show to run with the attendees
including Jason Gunn, Willy from the Spacifix, Dayna and Jordan
from Studio 2, Isaac Bell from Shortland Street, Vicki and Jermaine
from Saturday Disney, Ryan and Jo from Squirt, Silver Ferns Joline
Henry and Laura Langman, Matt Suanoa from New Zealand Idol and
Spongebob Squarepants.
In addition to the celebrities the TV 2 Kids Own Awards promises to
be the television event of the year for children with a live studio
audience of 300, a massive skateboard ramp, lots of gunge, some
out-of-control backstage antics, expert skateboarders, hip-hop
dancers Dziah and even a performance by New Zealand's own
Aaradhna.
The trophies that will sit proudly on the walls of all the winners
of the TV2 Kids Own Awards are designer skateboards proudly
sponsored by The Warehouse.
The kids of Aotearoa have spoken and the winners will be announced
in an awsome awards gungefest on TV2, 16th of December at
3pm.
