A Nelson teenager has been stood down from school after she streaked across a field during a 1st XV rugby match on Tuesday.
The 17-year-old and a group of friends now have to face their school board on Monday to explain their actions.
Heidi Wardrop dashed across the field wearing only her underpants during the match at Nelson Boys' College.
"I am one of those people who do funny things. I thought it would be random and I thought it would be funny. I didn't intend to offend anybody," Wardrop says.
She was encouraged by her four friends who were waiting to wisk her away. They said the game was dying and they thought they would "get Heidi to do something funny."
The students enjoyed the spectacle and gave the girls a standing
But, the Nelson Girls' College headmistress and the boys' headmaster didn't see the funny side and the top students were sent home.
"I regret the way the school has taken it and I wish they could see the funny side," says Wardrop, adding that she was influenced by Lisa Lewis - the bikini streaker at the All Blacks first test against Ireland.
