Born in Boulder, Colorado, John Carroll Lynch began his professional career in the theatre and spent eight years as a member of the Guthrie Theater Company in Minneapolis. His recent stage appearances include the original production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Dinner with Friends and Under the Blue Sky.
Lynch has over 30 feature film credits including Fargo, The Good Girl, Bubble Boy, Waking the Dead, A Thousand Acres, Anywhere But Here, Pushing Tin, Face/Off, Volcano, Confidence, Gothika, Trust the Man and Mozart and the Whale, along with the upcoming Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World.
Lynch was seen in Carnivale on HBO. He appeared in David Kelley's The Brotherhood of Poland, New Hampshire, and he played Drew's brother, Steve, for six seasons on The Drew Carey Show. Lynch has appeared in television movies and miniseries such as Tuesdays with Morrie, Live from Baghdad and From the Earth to the Moon. He also has numerous guest-starring credits.
Lynch lives in New York and Los Angeles with his wife, Brenda Wehle.
