By the age of 15, Candy Lane had won every New Zealand ballroom
dancing title open to her, and at 18 was the youngest ever to win
the Australian Professional Championships (which she went on to win
five times). She also held the Australasian and South Pacific
Professional Championship titles.
Candy was also the highest-ranked New Zealander ever to compete in the most prestigious competition in dancing - the British Open To The World Championship. She is an international adjudicator and has judged at the Ballroom and Latin American World Championships.
During her international career she has performed for the British royal family, was chosen to play the lead in West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein himself, and has partied with the likes of George Best.
Candy runs one of New Zealand's most successful professional dance companies.
Most recently, Candy choreographed and performed at the 2008 Qantas Film And Television Awards; was dance director for TV2's Singing Bee, which features the Candy Lane Dancers as the Honey Bees; and appeared in TV2's Shock Treatment.
