Manukau Symphony Orchestra - Butterfly Lovers, Auckland, 10 - 11 December 2011

Manukau Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Uwe Grodd, presents the tragic love story of the 'Butterfly Lovers' - China's favourite 'Romeo and Juliet' legend. The lovers follow a sad and sorrowful journey to be united, only in death, as their souls fly heavenwards as butterflies. The Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Auckland is arranging for an internationally-renowned Chinese violinist to perform at Manukau for this prestigious occasion.
Young trumpet soloist Patricia Robertson-Bickers will delight with the spirited first movement of Hummel's Trumpet Concerto.
Handel's music for the Royal Fireworks and Lane's 'Night Before Christmas' - narrated by the charming Max Cryer - bring us ever closer to the festive season. These concerts end with one of Tchaikovsky's most popular works - the 1812 overture, with booming cannons, ringing church bells, patriotic songs and musical fireworks!
The Manukau Symphony Orchestra will be performing on Sat 10 Dec and Sunday 11 December at 7:30pm-9:30pm at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre, 770 Great South Rd, Manukau in Auckland.

Tickets can be purchased from Buy Tickets on 09 976 7777.
