Stones Akld concert not too loud

Published: 9:51AM Wednesday April 19, 2006 Source: TVNZ Interactive

Despite complaints from neighbours the Auckland City Council has found that the Rolling Stones did not exceed noise limits at their Western Springs concert.

The ageing rockers played to a sell-out crowd at the stadium on Sunday night, much to the annoyance of some local residents, who called noise control saying it was one of the loudest concerts they had heard at the springs.

Auckland City's compliance and monitoring staff say they were satisfied with the noise levels monitored at the concert and that throughout the two-hour concert the sound levels did not exceed the 107dBA limit required under the resource consent issued for the concert.

In addition the concert concluded at 11pm, the curfew time allowed for the concert that night.

The Stones wrapped up their New Zealand tour in Wellington on Tuesday night, with no complaints about the noise emanating from the Westpac Stadium.
