As Eric Bana's Romulan character Nero says during the new Star Trek trailer: "The Wait is Finally Over"
Well, until May 2009 at least.
The first full length
Star Trek trailer's been
unleashed on the world bringing with it a tantalising look at how
director JJ Abrams (
Lost
, upcoming TV2
drama
Fringe ) has revitalised the
franchise.

There's been geeks salivating left, right and centre since the release of the teaser trailer, first look shots and the unveiling of four pieces of footage in the UK by JJ.
It seems to be a mix of the modern and the classic with nods to the original Star Trek right at the very end.
You get to see a young Kirk taking a car for a very fast ride being pursued by the police - as well as a youthful Spock being told he is a "child of two worlds" and "fully capable of deciding his own destiny."
For die hard Trekkies, there are some real goosebump moments - but none to beat Kirk seeing the Enterprise being built with the narrator's words intoning : "You feel like you were meant for something better - something special".
It appears that Zachary Quinto's got Spock all sown up - he really does look like a young Leonard Nimoy - especially in the scene where he beams in in trademark blue science officer's uniform ( and isn't that transporting effect cool??)
But it doesn't look like the Kirk and Spock friendship is off to a good start - to all intents and purposes, this James Tiberius Kirk (as played by Chris Pine) is a bit of a handful - the scene where the two of them go at it, after Pine's Kirk asks Quinto's Spock if he's afraid, is intriguing to say the least.
There's some of the Star Trek staples unleashed as well - shots of the USS Kelvin under attack, that iconic Enterprise klaxon going off while things explode, a bit of Karl Urban's take on DeForest Kelley's Dr Bones McCoy - before a brief burst of Simon Pegg's Scotty (complete with convincing Scottish accent).
However, it's the ending which shows that director JJ Abrams seems to have one foot in the past as well as the future - the screen goes black before the sound of a transporter beams in the Starfleet insignia, the familiar music and then the very retro original series' inspired logo.
So what do you think? Are you impressed or a little disappointed
with the full length trailer? Inspired by Zachary Quinto's Spock or
a little miffed there's no sign of Leonard Nimoy in the trailer?
