Maori culture has been involved in New Zealand tourism for well over a century but there's a new twist in what's on offer in Rotorua.
Darren Brown was keen to use his marriage celebrant skills for
something a little unique. So he and his wife Michelle have set up
a company providing Maori themed weddings.
Brown has worked in Rotorua's tourism industry for nine years
and was inspired to create his own business by his employers -
successful Maori entrepreneurs Doug and Mike Tamaki.
The venture has already attracted couples from all over the world.
Darren says most of them have been from the UK, but also Australia and the United States, and recently one couple from Canada.
He also married his first Japanese couple in February and says he's trying to move in to the Japanese market, finding the Japanese have an affinity with Maori culture.
