Residents of Aramoana have met to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the 23 hour siege which saw 13 people killed in the Otago harbour settlement by lone gunman, David Gray.
The siege ended when Gray himself was shot dead by police.
Poor weather forced the ceremony indoors, but that didn't stop residents paying their respects to the dead. Organiser and shooting survivor, Chiquita Holden, said the day was about looking to the future and would be a celebration.
Flowers were laid at the memorial to those killed and a totara tree was planted beside it.
