An investigation into an altercation between Hurricanes
team-mates Tana Umaga and Chris Masoe should be completed by
Tuesday.
The incident took place at Christchurch's Jolly
Poacher bar after Saturday night's Super 14 rugby final.
Hurricanes chief executive Malcolm Holmes says there was initially
an incident between Masoe and a male patron at the bar
when the Hurricanes flanker tripped over the man's
foot.
Holmes says Umaga intervened, taking Masoe aside and subsequently
hitting him with a handbag that belonged to a woman standing
nearby, breaking a cellphone which was in the bag.
Masoe then burst into tears.
Holmes says both players apologise for the incident and the
franchise hopes to complete its investigation on Tuesday.
