Monday 15 December
Brooke is aware she's misplayed her hand with Chris. She takes her
frustrations out on Harry. Chris challenges her and an angry Brooke
ends their relationship.
Rani performs Vaastu Shanti rituals, in the hope of combating the
house's Vaastu Dosh (defects). However, Shanti is spooked when all
of Rani's rituals seem to fail. When Rani's lucky fish all die, she
urges Shanti not to spend the night there.
Morgan and Hunter patch up their relationship, but then Cindy and
Trent approach Morgan with another plan for them to have a
child.
Gerald is alarmed to discover that Morgan is planning to travel to
Wellington to pose as Cindy for an implantation procedure at a
fertility clinic.
Kieran and Ethan formalise their business separation. Kieran
struggles to handle his guilt about Betty by drinking. He attempts
to warn Alice about Ethan's dangerous 'business
interests'.
Alice tries to shrug off Kieran's warning, and is won over by
Ethan's smooth explanation that Kieran is simply referring to his
interests in Nessus-Bio.
Kieran compulsively cleans his car to erase any evidence of
Betty.
Tracey grows concerned when no one can account for the missing
Betty, and when the social worker reports that she never saw Betty,
Tracey is disturbed.
Alice reads Ethan's emails, and finds one relating to Ethan's
investments, Caligula Enterprises. She asks Ethan why he has
invested in a company that makes pornography.
Ethan explains that the connection is through an old friend.
Alice is fascinated.
Kieran threatens Ethan with full disclosure of his
wrong-doing. But Ethan shrugs off the threat. Kieran
heads to Don Lennox's garage, and makes Lennox an offer.
Tuesday 16 December
Kieran talks Don Lennox into doing the hit on Ethan for $20,000.
However Libby has already spent the money on new furniture.
Yvonne suggests Maia petition Callum to set a date for a hearing
into her dismissal. Sophie is appalled by Maia's dismissal and
tells Callum.
Maia calls Fraser for legal advice but upsets Yvonne when she sets
up a meeting with Fraser. Yvonne derails the plan by walking out of
the meeting.
Later Maia tells Tania that Fraser's friend Hester believes she has
a case as long as she can provide evidence that Ethan provoked her
into attacking him.
Tania invites Maia to a girls' night at Shanti's house. Maia
declines.
Xavier feels the pressure of his financial situation when he cannot
attend a conference that Chris recommends. He saves half of
his takeaway dinner for lunch the next day, leaving it in the work
fridge.
Xavier catches Kip eating his food by mistake and accuses him of
stealing. Kip retorts with a racist jibe. Tracey
overhears and she and Kip argue.
Chris realises Xavier has money problems and decides to help.
He finds Xavier better, more affordable accommodation - with
Kip.
Gerald argues that what Morgan is doing is ethically wrong and
illegal, but she goes through with her plan.
Hunter gets the mistaken impression that he needs to make more
effort with Morgan, so he decides to arrange a romantic date for
Morgan and enlists Sophie's help.
While shopping, Hunter witnesses a bag snatcher get hit by a car,
and uses his medical know-how to save his life. Hunter tells
Morgan that she has inspired him to pursue a career in
medicine. He declares his love and Morgan reveals that she
loves him too.
However, she explains her visit to the fertility clinic, wondering
if this will change how Hunter feels now that she is a surrogate
mother. Hunter is stunned.
Wednesday 17 December
Ethan tells Alice that he's invited Brooke to stay with
them. Ethan humiliates Brooke about getting kicked out of
Chris's house.
Ethan starts playing master, making it clear that Brooke is willing
to endure any humiliation to get him back. Alice has to choose
whether to put up with Ethan's power-play, or leave.
TK is positive that he and Sarah can handle her pregnancy together,
and shares the good news with Kip. Kip covers for Sarah when
Tracey is suspicious about her frequent trips to the
restrooms.
TK is rocked when he discusses the impact of MS on motherhood with
Raewyn, and realises that pregnancy could kill Sarah.
Kip and Callum are stumped by a tricky case in ED.
Sarah admits to having new MS symptoms, worrying TK. Sarah
solves Kip's mystery case to his and Callum's surprise, but
questions her usefulness when her good hand begins to lose
feeling.
Callum is aghast when Sarah confides that she has MS. Sarah
admits she is considering giving up her job to TK, and is stunned
when TK suggests terminating her pregnancy instead.
Tania and Tracey offer to stay with Shanti. The girls' night gets
off to a good start, but Tania is soon disturbed to learn that Kane
is out on bail.
Tracey receives more threatening messages from Leo. During a
power cut, the girls try to free a cat that seems to be trapped in
one of the walls.
They can't find the cat, instead they discover Ouija board. They
set up the Ouija board and try to raise the spirits of the
dead.
Tracey is disturbed when a warning message apparently comes from
the missing Betty. Later, Shanti is woken by screams and
finds the sleepwalking Tracey covered in blood.
Thursday 18 December
Shanti and Tania run into the living area and are
horrified when they realise Tracey has stabbed someone.
When a police officer arrives to take Tracey's statement, her
explanation that she was sleepwalking is so far-fetched that she's
asked to come down to the station.
Tracy discovers that the victim of her attack was her stalker, Leo
Dukes. Kip is disturbed.
Sarah tells TK she resigned, and that she revealed her M.S. to
Callum. Now that TK has suggested a termination, Sarah feels
lost.
TK goes to Callum to fight for Sarah's job. But Callum
acknowledges that Sarah now has a limited and compromised
shelf-life as H.O.D.
Gerald tries to protect Yvonne from Deb's visit. A semi-lucid Deb
gives Yvonne her blessing to be with Fraser. Yet Yvonne refuses to
reach out to Fraser.
Alice changes to go out, but Ethan decides to stay in with Brooke.
Brooke's victory over Alice is short-lived when Ethan rejects her
advances.
Ethan meets Alice at the bar. Alice insists that Brooke spend no
more than one night at Ethan's.
Chris warns Kip that Ethan will be bad for Alice, but when Kip
tries to talk with her, a territorial Ethan backs him
off.
The Northerner newspaper clears Nessus of all allegations. Alice
turfs Brooke out of Ethan's apartment.
Callum is a sitting duck when a reporter asks about his Nessus
shares. Callum tells Ethan their secret is out. Ethan
realises he must block the growing suspicion, but he's tied up with
a difficult surgery.
Chris offers Brooke a lifeline.
In surgery, Ethan buckles under pressure and has a violent
breakdown. He comes home, and asks Alice to leave the country with
him.
When Ethan gives Brooke the brush-off, she takes it out on Alice in
a cat fight. Brooke reveals Ethan's extensive collection of
sex tapes - including footage of Alice. Alice realises
how little she means to Ethan.
Friday 19 December - the final episode of
2008
Fraser sees Yvonne's patient wrist band and realises she has been
admitted to the oncology ward. Gerald urges Fraser to go to
Yvonne's side.
Fraser promises to stand by Yvonne no matter what and Yvonne
finally admits that she wants him more than ever.
Kingi prepares to leave town and warns Kieran that he and Libby
should be doing the same. He and Tania meet for a final goodbye in
a public park, but are abducted by Kane and his Whitetails.
Having over-capitalised by ordering a hit on Ethan, Kieran finds
that the bank won't extend his mortgage. He and Libby lose both the
house and their deposit.
Kingi warns Kieran that the news is out that he has requisitioned a
hit. Kieran phones Lennox to stop the hit, but Lennox misses the
call.
Libby learns that Ethan is responsible for Yvonne's cancer. She
urges Kieran to stop Ethan. He reveals that he hired a hit man, and
Libby implores him to do whatever he can to ensure that Ethan
dies.
Ethan plans his exit. Lennox lines up to shoot Ethan, but is
distracted and a lucky Ethan avoids death. At home, Ethan is
confronted by a furious Alice who has realised the extent of his
betrayal.
Alice flees to the I.V. Kip tries to reach out to Alice but her
fury erupts and she leaves the bar vowing to kill
Ethan.
Callum, Chris and Libby learn from Brooke that Ethan is the
director of Nessus and realises the extent of his
villainy.
Alice arrives at Maia's and tells her how Ethan systematically
destroyed every ounce of her self respect. Maia tries to bolster
Alice with assurances that Ethan will be brought to justice, but
Alice fears that it is too late as Ethan has plans to flee the
country.
Callum accosts Ethan as he leaves the hospital, but Ethan punches
him and continues on his way. Tracey catches Ethan outside and asks
him about Betty, and Ethan fobs her off.
Brooke pleads with Ethan to take her with him. He speeds off
leaving Brooke humiliated.
Tracey tells Kip and Chris about her odd encounter with
Ethan. Kip urges Tracey to call the police, but Chris wants
to handle Ethan himself. Ethan arrives home to pack his bags
- only to be shot by an unseen assassin.
