The Inaugural Attitude Awards are being held on December 3 - World Disability Day and broadcast on TV ONE on December 7 at 10.30pm.
The Attitude Awards, a fantastic new initiative dedicated to
honour the outstanding achievements of New Zealanders living with
disabilities is launching in December.
It's the first year for these Awards and they are looking to become
the equivalent of the Halberg Awards.
The winners in each category of the Attitude Awards and an overall
Supreme Award winner will be announced at a black tie event at the
Sky City Convention Centre on December 3, coinciding with World
Disability Day.
Categories include the Attitude Sportsman and Sportswoman,
Enterprise, Arts, Youth, Community, Spirit and ACC Employer
Awards.
Judging by the line up of the sponsors who have got behind it first
time up and the list of celebrities attending on the night, these
Awards are set to become an annual affair.
The awards came about after presenter and associate producer Curtis
Palmer pitched the idea to Attitude producer Robyn Scott-Vincent
(RSVP Productions). The awards have involved the
entire production team and come together over just 10
months.
Palmer says he is excited the idea is taking flight.
"We want to celebrate young disabled people who are inspirational,
people in our communities who contribute to making the life of a
disabled person richer, our 'outside' artists, disabled
entrepreneurs and the employers who help disabled people achieve
successful working lives," says Palmer.
