Glammas Make-up Tips - Mature Skin - 28 July

50 is the new 60!

There are so many wonderful products, tips and tricks out on the market, that you can have just as much fun doing your make-up as you did in your 30s!

Of course, there is a certain age-appropriate look you should adhere to - pastel blue Britney Spears sparkling shadow is a no-no!

Foundation

Yellow-based foundations are your most flattering as they are warm toned and will give your complexion a lift.

Pink-based foundations are cool toned which tend to make skin tones look pale and washed out.

If you aren't sure what your foundation looks like, have a look at of photos of yourself. If your face looks three shades lighter, then chances are you have the wrong colour.

Eyes

Mascara gives the eyes the illusion of lift and helps to make your eye whites look whiter.

Stick to soft warm-toned eye shadows and remember always: less is more!

Pastel shiny shadows I steer away from, as they tend to show up the fine lines around the eye area.

Oil is the number one killer of eye shadow! Use a make-up wipe over your lid to remove any access oil before you apply your foundation then apply shadow.

Blush

Blush is a girl's best friend no matter what age you are!

As we age, our skin tone becomes dull, so adding a soft apricot blush to the apple of your checks will take 10 years off you. This step I never miss when I'm doing mature makeovers.

Lips

Cracked lips? Apply lip moisturiser before you start your makeup application and allow to sink in.

When you get to your lips - which is always the last thing I do with my application - add a little foundation or concealer to the outside of the lips then lightly powder. Use satin lip textures to the lips and stay way from glosses. If you have to use gloss only add to the middle of your lip. This should be a big help to stop bleeding and feathering.
