Beauty v Education
She's got it all. Rhonda Grant is a science grad currently working full-time while still studying extra-murally. She's bilingual and she's not without good looks - which is where the trouble started. Rhonda won third prize in the Miss Universe New Zealand, something the university chose to celebrate on its website. A little biography and a photo of Rhonda in a bikini started a furore with the association of university staff taking great offence to the photograph and story. The university  took the photo off the website but that still wasn't good enough for national president, associate professor Maureen Montgomery. She issued a press release berating Massey University.

Hug A Shark
Rob Stewart is a movie maker and dedicated shark hugger - jagged teeth and all. It's not that he finds them particularly cuddly, more that he's got a point to prove. He's out to convince us that sharks aren't the vicious, flesh-eating killing machines we make them out to be. And he does this in his new film, Sharkwater. He says we need to stop fearing and start caring, or soon they'll become extinct.

Racing hospice
What would you choose if you were given a wish? For 67-year-old Brian Bell it's a no brainer. He wanted to drive his prized Morris Minor around Pukekohe race track and last week his wish came true. Not only did the Morrie get a whirl, Brian, and other Mercy Hospice patients also got to burn some rubber in 18 racing cars.

Naked vets
If some of Massey's professors found bikini clad graduates hard to stomach naked vet students might leave them retching. Three quarters of the female dominated class of 100 are baring all in front of their class mates, unsuspecting animals and the nation as for the third year in a row the students go au natural for a fund-raising calendar. The proceeds will go towards a team bonding trip.
