Karen Olsen
March 23 is World Meteorological Day, and the day that
Wellingtonian Karen Olsen was born.
Karen came to the ONE News Weather Team from Metservice. One of the more interesting projects Karen worked on with the service was spending much of 1989 on Raoul Island running the weather programme with three other people.
Karen left Metservice and moved to Auckland in 1994 where she joined the One Network News weather team.
Karen has also found time to have two children, and is an ambassador for Variety Club as well as a sponsor of children with the Christian Children's Foundation.
Jim Hickey
Everyone knows Jim Hickey.
He was TVNZs senior weathercaster from 1988 until 2003, and has continued his association with the network with regular appearances on Good Morning.
Jim rejoined the ONE News Weather team presenting alongside meteorologist Karen Olsen in September 2007.
He has a BA in geography, majoring in climatology, and a diploma of meteorology.
Jim has also made television programmes Jim's Car Show and A
Flying Visit, as well as the documentaries Hows the Weather Jim?
and The Real Middle Earth.
Tamati Coffey
Tamati is Breakfast's roving reporter and weather presenter.
Tamati completed an honours degree in Political Studies at the University of Auckland before becoming a presenter on What Now. It was from the iconic kid's show that he joined the Breakfast team.
TVNZ Head of News and Current Affairs Anthony Flannery says Tamati is one of the most exciting young personalities on New Zealand television.
Tamati brings his own brand of TV magic, and a huge fan base of
kids and parents, to Breakfast. His humour, intelligence and
strength as a live performer are a great addition to the
team.
Renee Wright
Renee is a member of the ONE News weather team and works
as a producer and presenter on TVNZ 7's news.
While she can't quite boast she was born in front of the camera,
she didn't waste much time.
At 18 months, Renee stopped filming when she crawled onto the set of the TV ad her mum was making. But the producers liked the interruption, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Renee is a communications graduate from Waikato, and came to TVNZ after working in radio as a producer and fill-in host.
At various times she has also been a model, a body double and
has appeared on Shortland Street (but concedes most New Zealanders
can lay claim to that).
