VOTING HAS NOW CLOSED.
How much does it cost to register a vote on Dancing with the
Stars?
Each vote via SMS or 0900 costs 99C inclusive of GST. (This cost is outside of any free weekend or capped text promotion. Please check with your mobile operator for details)
TVNZ does not take any money from the votes.
How does the Dancing with the Stars voting system work?
The voting system is based on the international format for
Dancing with the Stars, in which 50% of the judges' vote and 50% of
the public's vote give the final result.
If a celebrity is still in the show after the judges have issued
them a low score, it means they have received a large amount of
votes from the public.
The text and phone votes are tallied up by an independent service
aggregator company, not TVNZ or the producers.
Why aren't the Dancing with the Stars voting figures
released each week?
Weekly voting figures are not released for Dancing with the
Stars as this could compromise the fairness to the celebrity
contestants and the integrity of the show.
Where does the money from voting go?
Voting is provided by the two mobile networks and Telecom's 0900
service. Operational costs are recovered by the telcos in
accordance with either their individual commercial or corporate
practices. An external company is contracted, for a fee, to provide
a 'live' and independent aggregation service.
Following recovery of the above operation costs, all remaining
money is given to the contestants' nominated charities, without
further deductions. Neither TVNZ nor the BBC keeps any part of the
money raised.
This is identical to the process and procedures adopted for the
previous series, which resulted in more than $1.3million being paid
to the charities.
When will we know how much the charities have received from voting?
The final amount the designated charities receive will be known
when the Dancing with the Stars series has finished. There is a
delay of approximately 90 days in obtaining the final figures, due
to the 0900 telephone billing systems.
Which charities have the celebrities
chosen?
Geraldine Brophy - Arthritis New Zealand
Tamati Coffey - Rainbow Youth
Chris Hobbs - Ronald McDonald House Charities NZ
Lizzy Igasan - The Heart Foundation
Rebecca Hobbs -New Zealand Spinal Trust
Barbara Kendall - Upside Downs Education Trust
Josh Kronfeld - Koru Care

Who can vote?
Anyone living in New Zealand can vote.
When can I vote and when are the results announced?
Voting will commence at the end of each Tuesday night show (at
approximately 10pm), except episode one when the lines will be open
from the start of the show and are open until approximately 9.45pm
during the next episode on the following Tuesday.
The week's results will be announced during the final segment of
the show.
How many votes can I make?
Each call or text is registered as ONE vote. You can vote as
many times as you like.
I am trying to vote via 0900 but I can't get through?
The voting lines are very popular. If you hear an engaged signal please call again. Your vote is important.
If you hear a different sound (ie: not the usual engaged signal) then you may have an 0900 bar on your phone preventing you from making 0900 calls. To have your barring status check and removed please call one of the following:
If calling from a landline e.g. your home phone, please call Telecom on 123.
If calling from a Telecom mobile please call *123 from your mobile
If calling from a Vodafone mobile please call 777 from your mobile or 0800 800 021.
You will not be charged for these calls.
I am trying to send my vote by text message but get a 'message not sent' reply. What does this mean?
This could be a result of network overloading as an enormous
number of people will be trying to vote. You will not be charged
for these messages. Please keep trying. Your vote is
important.
How do I know my vote has been registered?
If you place your vote using 0900 you will hear a recorded
message to confirm your vote has been registered. If you place your
vote using text messaging a reply message will be sent back to your
mobile phone to let you know your vote has been received. Response
times for text message replies may vary and are subject to network
coverage and availability, entry volumes, the memory of the SIM
card inside your mobile phone not being full, and/or any technical
problems.
What will happen if I try to vote outside the voting times?
Your vote will not be registered but you will be charged 99
cents. If you try to place your vote using 0900 you will hear a
recorded message to advise that your vote has not been registered.
If you try to place your vote using text messaging a reply message
will be sent back to your mobile phone to let you know your vote
has not been registered. Response times for text message replies
may
vary and are subject to network coverage and availability, entry
volumes, the memory of the SIM card inside your mobile phone not
being full, and/or any technical problems.
Voting will commence at the end of each Tuesday night show (at
approximately 10pm), except episode one when the lines will be open
from the start of the show and are open until approximately 9.45pm
during the next episode on the following Tuesday.
