New Zealand heavyweight boxing champion Shane Cameron says he is still baffled why David Tua doesn't want to fight him.
Tua has rejected the latest offer of $250,000, content to fight for a much smaller purse.
Cameron told ONE News he has one theory on why Tua is avoiding him.
"Me beating David is going to finish his career and I believe that's what will happen if we do end up fighting. He knows that and that's why he's not taking the fight."
Tua's manager Robina Tua has labelled Cameron's offer of $250,000 a joke and isn't willing to reconsider unless it is upped to $500,000.
Cameron's manager Keith Reinsfield said that offer is laughable.
"Half a million dollars? We could get a world ranked
fighter, we could get a fighter ranked in the top ten for half a
million dollars."
When Tua takes on Robert Hawkins later this month in New York it is expected to be for less than US$50,000.
"To me David Tua's scared of Shane Cameron, scared of losing without a doubt and I believe he will lose," added Reinsfield.
In the meantime Cameron has scored the lead under card bout to Anthony Mundine's fight with Sam Soliman.
His next opponent is 40-year-old Australian Bob Mirovic.
"Last time I sparred him would have been two years ago so I sort of know what Bob's gonna bring to the table. Bob's got a lot of experience; he's fought some tough guys, to this day he's probably the toughest opponent I've met."
The fight is on March 7 in Sydney.
