The New Zealand Food Safety Authority has found levels of Vitamin K in a new dairy product could pose a health risk to people on some drugs.
It is warning people taking the blood thinning drug Warfarin not to eat Anlene dairy products, because it could put them more at risk of having a stroke.
NZSFA spokesperson, Jenny Reid, says people on Warfarin have to monitor their levels of Vitamin K, which is found in Anlene milk and yoghurt.
Reid says Vitamin K is not normally found in dairy products, so the 46,000 New Zealanders who take Warfarin should check with their doctor it is safe for them to use. She says warning labels will be placed on the products.
