Australian Formula One Grand Prix organisers have lost a major drawcard for next year's event in Melbourne.
V8 Super Cars Australia has pulled out of the March race meeting because it's too close to the championship round planned for Perth on the following weekend.
It's the first time the event will run without the V8s in more than a decade.
V8 Supercars Chief Executive Officer Wayne Cattach says he expects the decision will have an impact on the Grand Prix's ticket sales.
