The latest One News Colmar Brunton poll shows the political situation is very volatile and the election is still too close to call.
Three million New Zealanders have a little over 48 hours to decide who will form the next government and while National is ahead there is still uncertainty in party support.
Taken over the last three nights, the poll shows National still in front and up three points from last week to 44%. Labour drops one to 38%, giving National a six point lead, but both parties concede it's still too close.
New Zealand First gained 5.5% and the Greens also made the 5% threshold - but only just on 5.1% and a fall of 1%.
United Future had 2.5%, Act 1.9%, the Maori Party 1.7% and Destiny New Zealand just under 1%. The points of a percent do make a difference when calculating how many seats a party could get if they win an electorate.
NZ First leader Winston Peters has said he will offer support to the largest party, which means National would have first chance at forming a government on the latest figures.
Helen Clark is still the favourite as preferred prime minister but is down two to 40%, with Don Brash steady on 30% Peters falling one to 6%.
